This autumn, Gagarin is excited to welcome Tianlong Mu as our new trainee.
Tianlong is currently studying Interaction Design at Umeå Institute of Design in Sweden. Originally from China, he brings with him a broad background in architecture, multimedia design, and creative technology. Over the years, he has studied and worked across China, the UK, and Scandinavia, and describes himself as a “nomad, continuously living and learning across different cultures, and using design and innovation as lenses to explore the world.”

“Great experience is a force of nature.” Tianlong MU
This is the perspective Tianlong brings to his design practice. He explores how natural elements, such as wind and water can become poetic interfaces between people, space, and technology.
His work spans a range of immersive, sensory experiences: from wind-inspired spatial installations that reimagine the presence of nature in urban life, to a water-based therapeutic guide that uses flowing environments and nature-inspired transitions to support emotional healing, and Child-Friendly Futures, a speculative entertainment system inspired by UNICEF’s 2030 Child-Friendly Cities Agenda. Across these projects, he blends storytelling, creative coding, AR/XR, generative AI, and physical computing to craft narrative-rich. These multisensory interactions reconnect humans with both the natural and the technological worlds.
At Gagarin, Tianlong will be part of our team developing interactive exhibitions and narrative environments. We’re looking forward to the creativity, curiosity, and fresh perspectives he will bring.
Welcome to Gagarin, Sky Dragon
