The Laki Eruption was the largest eruption since the settlement of Iceland.
Approx. one fifth of the Icelanders died.
Eldmessan is shown to travellers visiting the Laki area.
Eldmessan is a film on the Laki eruption and The Mist Hardships (1783-1784), where one fifth of the Icelandic population was killed. Over a million people died world wide due to failed crops and atmospheric pollution caused by the Eruption. Gagarin used a variety of 3D renderings, red-screen footage and archived footage to produce this expressionistic 15 min. documentary to be shown for travellers visiting the Laki area.
