The Icelandic Embassy in London, along with Ambassador Sverrir Haukur Gunnlaugsson, has been instrumental in putting up the exhibition PURE ICELAND at the London Science Museum. The embassy has enjoyed the sponsorship of various Icelandic companies. Further information about the exhibition may be found on the embassy website.
The exhibition highlights various aspects of Iceland's nature, its geography and climate, as well as how Icelanders utilize their natural resources and protect the environment.
Designer and coordinator of the exhibition is Arni Pall Johannsson, Línuhönnun is responsible for the installation and Gagarin for the digital content.
The challenge
The design of this exhibition is unique in that it tells a story mainly through interactive media, digital media and live performances.
Gagarin was hired to produce the digital content for the exhibition.
the outcome
The largest installation is a 20 x 4 meter film projection, fully produced in a 3D environment, showing the sea at dawn with an island in the background and creatures like whales swimming around.
An interactive presentation entitled "Iceland - the Big Picture" provides almost everything there is to know about Iceland in three main categories: Man,Nature and Technology, as well as 33 sub-categories.
There is also a presentation showing natural phenomena in Iceland and the battle against erosion and other forces endangering the country's pristine nature.
